STORY TIME WITH JEN
30 minutes, best for pre-K-3rd grade
My Piano Story Time: Author Jen Fier Jasinski will do an interactive reading of her book My Piano, lead an activity about music and emotions, and answer participants’ questions.
Sidewalk Chalk Story Time: Jen will discuss shyness and how our bodies react when feeling shy. She will then explore the concept of onomatopoeia with students and complete an interactive reading of Sidewalk Chalk. This story time includes a Q&A session and there is an option to have Jen stay to create chalk art with your students.
Because of You, I’m a Sister Story Time: This picture book captures the excitement, challenges, joys (and occasional conflicts!) of being a sibling. Jen will discuss and explore with students the concept of coexisting truths – that we can experience multiple feelings or thoughts (both “happy” and “hard”) at the same time. Interactive reading, Q&A, craft and optional book signing to follow.
MY PIANO AND ANXIETY MANAGEMENT
60 minutes, best for upper elementary students
Both of author Jen Fier Jasinski’s released titles include characters experiencing anxiety. In these sessions, Jen will do an interactive reading of her book My Piano or Sidewalk Chalk, complete the corresponding activities (outlined above in Story Times), and then use the selected book as a tool for teaching about anxiety management strategies. Students will then apply these strategies in group and individual work activities.
WRITE A STORY! (NOW CHANGE IT!)
30-60 minutes, can be modified for different age groups
In this hands-on writing workshop, I share about my writing process with an emphasis on revising and editing (and the difference between the two!) Includes an interactive read aloud and Q&A session.
